CCHRIC

The “Confronting Coastal Hazards for Rural and Indigenous Communities” (CCHRIC) project aims to provide scientific insights and engage with local knowledge holders to create actionable solutions that bridge the gap between advanced climate science and the immediate needs of local communities for resilience against coastal hazards.

The results of the study will expand the boundaries of traditional disaster preparedness and resilience to climate-related hazards by leveraging the expertise of the team, which includes climate science, geological and water resources engineering, geoinformatics, cloud computing, and social science, and expanding partnerships with local stakeholder organizations.

Dr. Schelly’s role in this project involves social science research and stakeholder engagement processes to better understand the opportunities for inter-organizational collaboration on climate hazards resilience and to support collaboration among project partners.
